Around 100 pieces of mock-up were made to explore the composition of the pebble and cement to attain the optimum mixture that is suitable.

The design intends to celebrate the versatility of pebble wash by forming various degrees and radii of curvatures seamlessly throughout the sculptural piece and as an appreciation of this sophisticated handcraft construction step.

Pebble wash is a very modest yet remarkable material. Each piece is unique and cannot be replicated, and it demands a high standard of craftsmanship and devotion. We believe these qualities together with the cultural history of the material in Hong Kong are invaluable and should be celebrated in the design.
