Our architectural project in xian is located in a highly restricted development in terms of design. Every building has its designated material and design template to follow. To our challenge, we opt to innovate within the framework, while giving it a unique architectural design. We salvaged the existing old facade panel, and twisted it, so the internal views are opened up for pedestrian spectacle and natural lighting. This simple act helps us maintain a harmonious palette with the neighbourhood and be sustainable – by reusing 42% of the old facade panel.
The internal space are revealed when the panels are tilted. At the same time it create internal vista towards exterior and allow natural light to enter the space. When one is walking pass the building, the tilting panel creates a dynamic and changing scene for the pedestrians, and capturing their curiosity towards the brand.
